Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben Modi, passed away in the early hours of Friday at the age of 100. Heeraben Modi was admitted to the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad on Wednesday morning due to some health issues.

In its bulletin, the hospital said, “Heeraben Modi passed away on December 30, 2012, at around 3:30 am while undergoing treatment at UN Mehta Heart Hospital. When he met his mother, he stayed in the hospital for more than an hour. Heeraben lived with Prime Minister Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi in Raysan village near Gandhinagar city.

PM Narendra Modi performed the last rites of his mother at Muktidham in Gandhinagar. During this, the whole family was present.
