PM to Hold Meeting With MHA Officials on Thursday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold a detailed review with Union Home Ministry officials on June 10, which is likely to be attended by Home Minister Amit Shah and the two ministers of state (MoS), G Kishan Reddy and Nityanand Rai. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) informed that PM Modi would hold the review. However, there can be some last-minute changes.

Policy decisions and future action plans for National Capital Region (NCR), Jammu and Kashmir, Northeast, border development, and upcoming Census 2021 may be discussed, said officials. From internal security to Kashmir to disaster management, the home ministry acts as a central agency for around 21 departments besides controlling the central armed forces, including the BSF, CISF, and CRPF. It is also responsible for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) functioning, the federal anti-terror agency, and recently set up NATGRID. The apex body for disaster management, National Disaster Management Authority, headed by the PM, works in liaison with the MHA.

The Home Minister has delegated all the 21 divisions of his ministry, except reporting of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), to his two deputies. G. Kishan Reddy has been in charge of critical divisions such as Jammu and Kashmir, Northeast, Union Territories, and cybersecurity.
