Power Grid Corp Board Clears Investment Worth More Than Rs 803 Crore

Power Grid Corporation of India, a successful bidder for a host of inter-state transmission system projects.

On Friday, the board of Power Grid Corporation approved an investment of over Rs 803 crore for various transmission projects in the country.

BSE filings show that the POWERGRID project investment board committee was convened on February 24, 2023, and approved projects worth more than Rs 803 crore.

The project includes a plan to relieve high loads on the WR-NR interregional corridor (400 kV Bhinmal-Zerda line) at an estimated cost of Rs 200.58 crore and is scheduled to be commissioned by May 2024.

Another project is the Transmission System for Enhancement of ISTS for Interconnection of HVPPNL Transmission Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs.

Another project is the implementation of the Western Region Expansion Scheme-XXV (WRES-XXV) at an estimated cost of Rs 385.84 crore, which is scheduled to be commissioned by November 2023.

The board also approved implementing the North East Region Expansion Scheme-XX (NERES-XX) at an estimated cost of Rs 109.38 crore, scheduled to be commissioned by November 2024.

In a separate filing to the stock exchange, the company said POWERGRID Teleservices Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India, received a Certificate of Registration as a Type I Infrastructure Provider (IP-I) from the Ministry of Telecommunications to establish and maintain assets such as dark fibres, channels, duct spaces and towers to grant licensees of telecommunications services licensed under Section 4 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 on a lease/lease/sale basis.
