Praj Industries Ltd, an industrial biotechnology business, announced on Thursday (June 5) that it has received an international assignment from Enersur SA, one of Paraguay’s leading renewable energy companies, to help create a fully integrated biorefinery project in the South American country.
Praj will contribute to the creation, evaluation, and gradual implementation of a comprehensive biorefinery as part of the cooperation. The facility will produce ethanol as well as DDGS, maize oil, biogas, bio bitumen, and SAF, which is sustainable aviation fuel.
The agreement was signed during Paraguayan President Santiago Peรฑa Palacios’ state visit to India on June 2-4, 2025. The signing event was attended by Palacios, as well as a high-level group of ministers, bureaucrats, and business leaders.
Enersur awarded Praj a contract to design, supply, and commission a modern 600 mยณ/day anhydrous ethanol facility in Canindeyรบ, Paraguay. This facility, which will use corn as feedstock, is a big step forward in Paraguay’s commitment to sustainable energy and rural development while also helping to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
Praj’s diverse range of services includes process technology licensing, full-scale design and engineering, supply of core process equipment, and on-site supervision assistance. The facility is planned to be completely operational by October 2026.
