French President Emmanuel Macron warned that US tariffs on Europe could raise inflation for Americans and harm European economies by increasing costs.
Speaking to CNN, he emphasised that the US should prioritise addressing trade issues with China rather than targeting the EU.
Macron stressed the need for the EU to focus on its priorities, including competitiveness, defence, security, and AI development.
However, he insisted that the bloc must be prepared to respond to any US actions.
When asked about confronting Donald Trump over tariffs, Macron affirmed that he had done so before and would do it again if necessary.
