Procter & Gamble to Set up a Rs 2,000 Crore Manufacturing Facility in Ahmedabad

P&G to invest Rs 2,000 crore to set up a new personal healthcare manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

The world’s second-biggest fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturer, Procter & Gamble (P&G), will invest Rs 2,000 crore to set up a new personal healthcare manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

P&G India CEO LV Vaidyanathan announced the investment in a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility would be constructed in Sanand, Ahmedabad, spread across a 50,000 sq metre area. The plant will manufacture products that are part of P&G’s global healthcare portfolio, especially digestives, and is designed to be fully automated based on the modern concept of ‘Industry 4.0’.

The latest plant will be operational over the next few years and is set to become an export hub for P&G globally. Further, it will also help create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, thereby significantly boosting the local economy.

P&G owns brands like Ariel, Duracell, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, Oral-B, Pampers, Pantene, Tide, Vicks and Whisper. This is the company’s ninth plant in India, including one other manufacturing plant in Sanand. The company has invested over $ 1 billion in India over the last decade.
