Rajasthan Government Approves Rs 40 Billion Electric Vehicle Policy

The state of Rajasthan’s administration has developed an electric car policy to promote EV sales there. The Rajasthan Electric Vehicle Policy (REVP), in which the state government approved a fund of Rs 40 crores for contribution to the purchase of electric vehicles, was launched on Thursday. The EV policy will be effective for a five-year term starting on September 1, 2022.
The budget for 2019–20 included a statement on the EV policy, and on May 24 of this year, the Congress-led administration of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accepted the draught policy.
The suggested one-time contribution on the purchase of electric vehicles and an additional budget line item of Rs 40 crores for the reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax were authorised by the state government as part of this programme (SGST).
According to the vehicle’s battery capacity, the Rajasthan government has announced to reimburse SGST amounts of between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 for two-wheelers and between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 for three-wheelers.
The transport department has also given a total of Rs 40 crores to settle any outstanding grants for purchasing electric vehicles.
Transport Commissioner K L Swami said, “We have received funding from the state government, and all outstanding dues pertaining to the purchase of electric vehicles for this fiscal year will be cleared shortly.

In the state’s 12 Regional Transport Office (RTO) districts, a total of Rs 18 crores was awarded as grants to individuals who purchased e-vehicles in the most recent fiscal year.
