Samsung to Invest Rs 1,588 Crores in Compressor Plant in TN

Samsung will set up a compressor plant at an investment of Rs 1,588 Crores in Tamil Nadu. Extended over 22 acres, the new plant will have a capacity to make 8 million units per year. The compressors produced at the new plant will be used for the refrigerators made by Samsung and also for exports, Ken Kang, President and CEO at Samsung Southwest Asia, said.


Samsung India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin welcomed the fresh investment and also urged Samsung to set up a semi-conductor plant in the state. He said Samsung’s total investment in Tamil Nadu has gone over Rs 1,800 Crores till now.
