After a lot of struggle, the 30-share BSE Index ended the day 99.96 points up at 26,686.51 and the 50-share Nifty was up 33.40 points at 8,047.30.

Bajaj Auto was the top gainer on Sensex, ended the day about 3 percent up.

Other lead gainers were Tata power, SBI, HUL and NTPC whereas, Vedanta, Dr Reddy’s, Tata Steel, HDFC and GAIL were the laggards.
