Shiprocket Buys Arvind’s Omnichannel Unit in Rs 200 Crore Stock-And-Cash Deal

On Tuesday, Logistics startup Shiprocket said that it will acquire Omuni, the omnichannel technology business of textile and branded apparel group Arvind Limited, for Rs 200 crore.

Inventory and cash transactions will allow Shiprocket and Arvind Ltd’s Omuni to combine their expertise to facilitate fast and efficient delivery of goods from the warehouse, resulting in faster delivery times and improved customer experience.

Founded in 2014, Omuni is a retail empowerment platform under the Arvind Group. Omuni’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering enables brands to unify inventory, order, catalogue, content, pricing, logistics and data management across physical and digital storefronts, providing seamless online and offline across stores, warehouses and digital channels for business travel.

Launched in 2017, Shiprocket provides a technology stack to help retailers integrate their shopping sites on Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, Zoho or other platforms. The platform has more than 17 express partners for Indian and international shipping. Its shipping solutions use over 29,000 passwords in India and 220 countries around the world.

Therefore, at a time when most retailers are adopting an omnichannel retail strategy to meet consumers’ digital and physical needs, the acquisition of Shiprocket-Omuni will ensure better inventory utilisation and a faster localised Delightful multi-channel experience.

With seamless inventory synchronization and fulfilment between online and offline channels, retailers will see increased order volumes and fulfilment rates, Shiprocket and Omuni said.

Saahil Goel, co-founder and CEO of Logistics Shiprocket said: “Omuni’s SaaS offering will allow us to unify inventory, orders, catalogues, content, pricing and data across physical and digital storefronts to provide customers with the best possible e-commerce experience. Our goal is to redefine e-commerce through omnichannel retailing.”

Shiprocket’s platform has more than 250,000 sellers, generates more than $2.5 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) annually, delivers data packages to more than 70 million consumers annually, and has seen a 2.5-3x year-over-year increase in transaction volume.
