SJVN Subsidiary Announced Commissioning 50 MW Solar Power Project

The estimated cost of construction and development of this project is around Rs 1,100 crore.

The state-owned company, SJVN, on 23 February, announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Ltd has commissioned and achieved commercial operation date of its Gujrai Solar Power Project in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The company had secured the above-mentioned solar power project that has a capacity of 50 megawatt capacity for a tariff rate of Rs 2.98 per unit via competitive tariff bidding, conducted by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Development Agency.

The cost of development for the solar power project is estimated at Rs 281 crore, and a Power Purchase Agreement for the same was signed between Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited and SJVN Green Energy for a total period of 25 years.

The Gujrai Solar Power Project will be able to generate 107 million units during its first year of commissioning with an estimated total energy generation of around 2,477 million units over a period of 25 years.

The company in its regulatory filing, said, “The company is on rapid progression to achieve its Shared Vision of 25,000 MW by 2030 & 50,000 MW by 2040. This Shared Vision has been formulated in sync with the commitment of the Government of India of generating 50% energy from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2030.”
