Stocks in Focus: UltraTech Cement, Polycab India, LIC and Others

The GIFT Nifty futures were trading in the red before the market’s opening on Wednesday. Indices are expected to open on a similar flat-to-negative note.

Domestic benchmark indices, NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex ended marginally higher on Thursday as the market awaited US inflation data announcements. Nifty ended higher by 0.13% or 28.50 points to 21,647.20, while Sensex gained 63.47 points or 0.09% to settle at 71,721.18.

Here are some stocks that are likely to remain in focus on January 12.

Life Insurance Corp (LIC): Mumbai tax authorities have further issued two tax demand notices worth Rs 3,529 crore to the insurance company.

Tata Power: Tata Power Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of the power distribution company, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Gujarat to invest up to Rs 70,000 crore for the development of 10,000 MW renewable energy projects in the state.

Mahindra and Mahindra: The auto manufacturer plans to invest Rs 630 crore in Mahindra Electric Automotive through a subscription to a rights issue of shares. 

Polycab India: The wire manufacturing company has refuted claims of communication from the Income Tax (I-T) department regarding alleged unaccounted cash sales of Rs 1,000 crore and non-genuine expenses. The I-T department conducted search and seizure operations at the company’s premises from December 22-30. 

HG Infra Engineering: The construction engineering company has been declared the lowest bidder for a Rs 716.11 crore project from the Central Railways for a 49.45-kilometre broad-gauge railway line in Maharashtra on an engineering, procurement, and construction basis.

Bank of Baroda: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has waived off the Rs 5 crore penalty imposed on the public sector bank.

UltraTech Cement: The cement company acquired a 26% stake in Amplus Ages for Rs 49 crore to enhance green energy capabilities, optimise energy costs and comply with regulatory requirements for captive power consumption.
