The GIFT Nifty futures, which is an early indicator of the Nifty50 index stocks, was trading lower by 82 points at 24,649, indicating that the domestic benchmark indices are likely to make a negative start on Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday, 26 August, the Domestic benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex crashed by 849 points or 1.04%, and settled at 80,786, while the Nifty50 traded 1.02% lower or 256 points, closing at 24,712.

Here are some stocks that are likely to remain in focus on 27 August.

Quarterly Results Today: Prabhat Technologies (India) and AJC Jewel Manufacturers are some of the prominent companies set to announce their quarterly earnings for April-June. 

United Breweries: United Breweries will expand production at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana by adding a new canning line. The move will increase capacity by 0.4 million hectolitres, raising total output from 0.5 million hectolitres to meet rising demand for Kingfisher and Heineken. Current utilisation exceeds 90%.

SMS Pharmaceuticals: SMS Pharmaceuticals received the Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) with a No Action Indicated status from the USFDA for its Central Laboratory Analytical Services in Hyderabad. The inspection, held June 23–25, concluded with zero Form 483 observations.

IndiGo: Rakesh Gangwal and his family trust will divest up to 3.1% stake in InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo’s parent firm, through a block deal worth Rs 7,027.7 crore. The deal involves up to 1.21 crore shares at a floor price of Rs 5,808 each, about 4% lower than Tuesday’s NSE closing price of Rs 6,050. The sale is scheduled for Thursday.

Biocon Pharma: Biocon Pharma, a wholly owned subsidiary of Biocon, secured tentative USFDA approval for Sitagliptin tablets in 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg strengths. The drug helps adults with type 2 diabetes manage glycemic control alongside diet and exercise.

Oil India and BPCL: Oil India and Bharat Petroleum formed a 50:50 joint venture to set up a gas distribution network in Arunachal Pradesh. The JV will establish CNG stations and supply PNG to households, commercial, and industrial users. This follows the 12th CGD bidding round held in March 2024.

Tata Steel: Tata Steel invested Rs 3,100 crore in its Singapore-based subsidiary, T Steel Holdings, by subscribing to equity shares. The funding will support the subsidiary’s operations and expansion plans.

Power Grid Corp: Power Grid Corporation won the bid to establish an interstate transmission system in Karnataka. The project, under the build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) model, focuses on strengthening transmission at Davanagere for renewable energy integration. The company received the Letter of Intent for this project.

Lemon Tree Hotels: The company has entered into a license agreement for Lemon Tree Resort in Pench, Maharashtra. Its subsidiary, Carnation Hotels, will manage the property.

Tata Consultancy Services: TCS launched a new unit, AI and Services Transformation, by consolidating its AI teams and capabilities. Amit Kapur will lead the unit as Chief AI and Services Transformation Officer, reporting to COO Aarthi Subramanian, effective 1 September.

Rail Vikas Nigam: The company has announced signing a joint venture agreement with Texmaco Rail & Engineering to execute railway and allied infrastructure projects. RVNL will hold a 51% stake, while Texmaco Rail will own 49%.
