Tata Motors on 19 October announced that it has entered into a partnership with Amazon to introduce Alexa to its newly launched range of vehicles, including the Harrier, the Safari, and Nexon.ev.

Through the integration of Alexa in its new range of vehicles, customers will now have access to additional functionality in their vehicles, such as voice commands, while still paying attention on the road.

Alexa can be used to control the temperature, open or close the car’s sunroof, and adjust the brightness of the screens, and it can also be used to manage the surround-view camera on their Tata vehicles to improve manoeuvrability and increase safety to have a more enjoyable driving experience.

Dilip RS, Director and Country Manager for Alexa, Amazon India, said, “With Alexa AI, we have unlocked the potential of voice interactions to seamlessly integrate into our customers’ daily lives. This collaboration with Tata Motors will enable customers to continue experiencing much of what they know and love about Alexa from their home, in their Tata Motors vehicles, with added functionality for car controls and navigation.”

Vice president and CTO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, Sven Patuschka, said that safety remains a top priority, the availability of connected tech features was a growing requirement of the customers, and with the introduction of Alexa, the intent of the company is clearly towards making our customer’s drive experience more convenient.
