Shares of Tata Power Company Ltd surged 1.5% to touch a day’s high of Rs 382.40 on 10th December, after the firm on Tuesday (9th December) announced the commissioning of the 400 kV Koteshwar–Rishikesh transmission line, strengthening North India’s grid with 1,000 MW of clean hydropower.

The new transmission line will help evacuate 1,000 MW of hydropower. This power is from the Tehri–Koteshwar complex in Uttarakhand to several northern states and UTs.

It will supply clean energy to Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Delhi. This will boost energy security and grid stability.

The line passes through tough Himalayan terrain in New Tehri and Dehradun, reaching elevations above 1,816 metres.

The project strengthens North India’s renewable energy infrastructure and supports long-term grid reliability.

The transmission line was executed under NRSS XXXVI Transmission Ltd (NRSS).

NRSS is owned by Resurgent Power Ventures Pte Ltd, a joint venture promoted by Tata Power, ICICI Bank, and global investors.

At 11:49 AM, shares of Tata Power were trading 1.37% higher at Rs 381.40 on NSE.
