Tata Power Unit to Build Viraj Profile's 100 MW Captive Solar Power Facility_EQ
The company is a leading solar energy solution provider in India.

On Thursday, the major Indian stainless steel maker Viraj Profile and Tata Power-backed subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) joined to build a 100 MW captive solar facility. The Tarapur Plant of Viraj Profile will be powered by the Nandgaon plant that Tata Power will build on its Nasik property. By July 2023, the project will be officially launched.

Tata Power will own 74% of the generation following the captive generation regulations, and Viraj Profile will own the other 26 per cent.

Viraj Profile’s Tarapur Plant will use the power generated for captive consumption in the interim. Through this, Viraj will run its manufacturing facility with solar energy, making it among India’s first Stainless Steel Long Products manufacturing enterprises. Furthermore, Viraj Profile will be less dependent on non-renewable energy sources by about 50 per cent.
