Tata Consultancy Services announced that it has extended its decade-long relationship with British grocery chain Morrisons to accelerate the latter’s digital ambitions and assist in harmonising operations across key business divisions.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said in a regulatory filing that the five-year agreement will assist Morrisons advance its strategic targets by increasing operational efficiency, changing its reward programme, boosting customer experience, and capturing more market share.

“TCS will support this effort by delivering end-to-end engineering services — application design development, testing, and maintenance services, modernising the legacy platforms, and embedding AI-powered solutions to improve service outcomes.”

“TCS will also set up an automation factory and a Business Intelligence Command Centre (BICC) to enable a 360-degree operation view, proactive issue resolution, and more data-driven decision-making. These changes are designed not only to reduce service disruptions, manual interventions, and response time, but also to deliver more consistent and engaging customer experience for shoppers,” it said.

TCS has been working with Morrisons since 2014 to help the retailer grow and modernise its various business areas.  Key initiatives include a supply chain overhaul that has reduced lead times, increased stock availability, and reduced waste, according to the company.

The global IT services company has also collaborated with Morrisons to modernise its HR systems, including IT operations and engineering procedures.

TCS has been operating in the UK for over 50 years and currently serves 200 clients in the region.
