TikTok Restructures Trust & Safety Team, Lays Off Staff

Trump has downplayed urgency, noting strong investor interest.

Sources said that TikTok is restructuring its trust and safety unit, leading to global layoffs in its content moderation team on Thursday.  

Operations head Adam Presser informed employees about the move in a memo the same day, with layoffs beginning across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.Β Β 

TikTok, owned by ByteDance, faces uncertainty in the U.S. over national security concerns and a possible ban. CEO Shou Chew previously told Congress the company would invest over $2 billion in trust and safety.  

In October, TikTok laid off hundreds of employees worldwide as it shifted toward AI-driven content moderation.
