Tiktok’s New plan Include Adding 10K US Jobs in 3 Years

Tiktok, the vastly popular smartphone app among the youth and other audiences; estimated to have reached the billion-user mark worldwide – has faced allegations of ties to Chinese intelligence, which the company denies. Following India’s decision to ban the app across the country, other countries like Bangladesh and Indonesia have also followed suit.
While Tiktok edges closer to a US ban as federal employees have already been restricted from downloading the app, TikTok said on Tuesday it plans to add around 10,000 US jobs for the next three years, as it battles complaints over its ties to China.
With a current 1,400 US employees, new jobs would be in regions such as engineering, marketing and other sectors, revealed a spokesman.
A TikTok statement said the structure of the company is under review.
“As we consider the best path forward, ByteDance is evaluating changes to the corporate structure of its TikTok business,” the statement said.
“We remain fully committed to protecting our users’ privacy and security as we build a platform that inspires creativity and brings joy for hundreds of millions of people around the world.”
Following the bill passed by the US House of Representatives barring federal employees from using the app on government-issued devices; based on security concerns that it could be used for spying, a top white house aide said last week that he expected Tiktok to break away from its parent firm and operate as a standalone entity.
