Transrail Lighting Limited shares touched a day high of Rs 485.50 on 6 October after the company announced fresh orders worth Rs 412 crore.

The company put out a press release on the exchanges at around 10:15 am. The fresh orders take its order intake this financial year past Rs 2,000 crore.

Transrail builds power lines and makes the steel towers and thick conductor wires that carry electricity across the country.

It runs plants in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Silvassa. New orders keep those factories and project teams busy.

This is not the first win this month. On 30 September, Transrail said it had won domestic orders worth more than Rs 574 crore for power transmission and distribution.

The company has also been adding factory space. Last month, it lifted its conductor capacity by 70% to 40,800 km a year, up from 24,000 km.

Its tower capacity has also risen to 184,400 tonnes a year after it added 12,000 tonnes at Silvassa.

Its order book stood at Rs 16,035 crore on 30 June. Put simply, that is the pile of work the company has won but still has to deliver.

For the April to June quarter, reported on 6 August, revenue came in at Rs 1,736 crore. Profit after tax was Rs 108 crore, up 3% from a year earlier.

Shareholders have also seen two recent payouts: an interim dividend of Rs 3 a share with an ex-date of 3 August, and a Rs 2 dividend with an ex-date of 11 September.

At 12:19 pm, the stock traded at Rs 481.45 on NSE, up Rs 18.70 or 4.04%. About 15.61 lakh shares had changed hands, and the company’s market value stood near Rs 6,464 crore.
