Twitter Will Now Let Users Play YouTube Videos Directly

Twitter is testing new ways to let users play YouTube videos directly from the tweet. Currently, when a user taps on a YouTube link, he is redirected to the YouTube site. But the new feature will play the video directly on the app and website. As per Twitter, the feature is being tested on iOS. This will make it easier for the users to remain on the app and watch videos instead of opening a new link. Announcing the feature, Twitter posted a Gif to show how it works and wrote, “Starting today on iOS, we’re testing a way to watch YouTube videos directly in your Home timeline, without leaving the conversation on Twitter.”

As per The Verge, the feature will be made available to a very small group of users in Canada, the US, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. “The current test on iOS will be a four-week experiment. We plan to take a look at the results and will scale accordingly,” a spokesperson told the publication.

A lot of other tests were also announced by Twitter last week. The photo-sharing app seems to be testing new ways to improve how one can share and view media on the app. “Now testing on Android and iOS: when you Tweet a single image, how the image appears in the Tweet composer is how it will look on the timeline bigger and better. We’re testing ways for you to upload and view 4K images on Android and iOS.If you’re in the test, update your high-quality image preferences in ‘Data usage’ settings to get started,” Twitter posted on the app.
