Uber Introduces New Reward System for Drivers to Put a Stop on Cancellations

The Uber Pro has four tiers: Blue, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, which is the highest.

Uber India, on 23 November, announced the launch of a reward system program for drivers to help them reach their goals better on and off the road and prevent trip cancellations, which is a dream of customers.

Shiva Shailendran, Director -Operations, Uber India & South Asia, said, ” Uber Pro rewards drivers who provide a great service to riders by maintaining a high app rating and low-trip cancellations. It will go a long way in promoting the adaptation and continued use of the Uber platform and will improve the overall experience on the Uber app.”

The Uber Pro is currently active in 12 cities in India, Including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Guwahati, and Kolkata; the company is also planning on bringing it to more cities shortly.

The Uber Pro has four tiers: Blue, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, which is the highest. A driver who is starting fresh on the platform will start with a Blue tier status and will be able to move up the ladder by earning ‘’points’’ on every completed trip and meeting other required criteria. However, the points will reset every three months.

The company said, “As drivers move towards a higher tier status, they get access to exclusive perks and experiential rewards offered by third parties such as discounted vehicle maintenance and motor insurance and microcredit offerings, etc.”

The passenger will be able to see the tier status of a driver on booking a ride, and the drivers will be able to track their progress on the app.

Manikandan Thangarathnam, senior director of mobility and platforms at Uber, said that the company is also revamping the backend technology of its app to bring upfront pricing and location details to drivers to bring down ride cancellations in India and worldwide.
