Uber is gearing up for a driverless future. The company has teamed up with US tech giant NVIDIA. They aim to roll out what they call the world’s largest robotaxi network by 2027. This involves deploying 1 lakh autonomous vehicles across global cities.

The partnership aims to create a Level-4-ready mobility network, capable of operating without human drivers in most conditions. Uber will integrate both robotaxi and autonomous delivery fleets powered by NVIDIA’s advanced AI computing systems.

The project will use NVIDIA’s latest DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 platform and DRIVE AV software. This technology is built specifically for high-level self-driving cars. To boost system intelligence, both companies are developing a massive ‘data factory’. They use NVIDIA’s Cosmos AI platform to process real-world driving data and enhance vehicle decision-making.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi called NVIDIA “the backbone of the AI era.” He said the partnership will help scale L4 autonomy globally. Additionally, NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, described the collaboration as the start of a major shift in transportation. This aims to make travel safer and more sustainable.

As part of the plan, global automaker Stellantis will supply the first batch of 5,000 robotaxis. These vehicles will be powered by NVIDIA’s self-driving tech. Uber will oversee fleet operations—covering charging, maintenance, cleaning, and remote monitoring—once deployment begins.
