Volkswagen Launches T-Roc SUV Starting Rs 19.99 Lakh

Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has launched T-Roc its second sports utility vehicle (SUV) this year starting Rs 19.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Launched as a CBU or completely built unit, the VW T-Roc will compete with the popular locally manufactured SUVs on sale such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier, among others.
The T-Roc will be positioned below the recently launched seven-seater VW Tiguan Allspace, priced at Rs 33.12 lakh in the company’s SUV portfolio for the domestic market. Both the SUVs are based on the German carmaker’s globally popular and highly flexible modular transverse matrix or MQB platform.
The VW T-Roc is powered in only 1.5-litre petrol engine. The petrol engine can produce a peak power output of 150PS (at 5,000-6,000 rpm) and deliver a maximum torque of 250Nm (at 1500-3500rpm). Mated to the seven-speed automatic gearbox, the 1.5-litre engine comes equipped with active cylinder technology. VW India said, sensing the driving pattern, the active cylinder technology can deactivate two out of four cylinders of the engine, thereby leading to increased fuel efficiency without compromising on the vehicle performance.
