Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a new type of malware called Volta Autodoxer that uses artificial intelligence to create detailed profiles of people after stealing their personal information. 

The discovery highlights how cybercriminals are using AI to make traditional hacking methods more efficient and identify valuable targets.

The malware was identified by Cisco Talos researchers using their CAIRN framework. Their findings were reported by The Indian Express on 02 November 2026. However, researchers have not confirmed whether Volta Autodoxer has been used in actual cyberattacks.

Volta Autodoxer is an information stealing malware designed to collect sensitive data from infected Windows computers. It can access saved passwords, browser cookies, payment card details, cryptocurrency wallet information and login sessions from platforms such as Gmail, Discord, Telegram, Steam and Roblox.

It can also examine emails, shopping receipts and food delivery records to gather additional details about a person’s location, spending habits and online activities.

Once the information is collected, the malware sends it to AI models through a platform called OpenRouter. It uses Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 by default, with Moonshot AI’s Kimi K2 and Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash as alternatives.

The AI system analyses the stolen information and prepares a detailed report about the victim. It can estimate the value of their digital assets, identify useful accounts and assess their security practices.

This allows hackers to identify high value targets without manually examining large amounts of stolen data.

Users should download software only from trusted sources, avoid suspicious attachments, use unique passwords and enable multi factor authentication. Keeping operating systems and browsers updated can also reduce security risks.

The discovery shows that AI is not only improving digital services but also creating new challenges for cybersecurity.
