Kerala-based edtech startup Wayvida has received Rs 3.25 crore worth of cloud credits from Microsoft under its Microsoft for Startups programme. 

The support will help the company strengthen its AI infrastructure, develop new technology capabilities and accelerate its plans to expand into international markets.

Founded by educator and entrepreneur Gireesh Neyyar, Wayvida is building an AI-powered platform that brings several functions used by educational institutions onto a single system. Its solutions cover learning management, admissions, fee collection, attendance, communication and student progress tracking.

The company also provides tools that allow educators, coaching centres and institutions to launch and manage their own online academies. Its platform combines an AI-powered learning management system with institute management tools, while also offering features for automation and digital transformation.

The Microsoft support is expected to give Wayvida access to cloud infrastructure and AI tools that can help it scale its platform. The company plans to use the resources to strengthen products such as its AI tutor and automated grading systems, while supporting a larger number of institutions.

Wayvida said the cloud credits will also support its international expansion strategy. The startup aims to make its platform available to educators and institutions outside India, using a white-labelled model that allows education businesses to operate their own branded digital academies.

The development comes as educational institutions increasingly adopt integrated digital platforms instead of relying on separate systems for administration, learning and communication. Wayvida is positioning its technology as an integrated ecosystem that can reduce the need for multiple software tools.

For Kerala’s startup ecosystem, Microsoft’s support provides another example of a state-based technology company building products around AI and education. Wayvida is headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram and is listed by Kerala Startup Mission as an AI/ML-focused edtech startup.

The latest support is in the form of cloud credits rather than a direct equity investment or conventional funding round. Its financial impact will therefore depend on how effectively Wayvida uses Microsoft’s infrastructure to scale its products, expand its customer base and enter international markets.
