WhatsApp is testing a new feature that lets users create their own AI chatbots directly within the app—no coding skills needed.

The tool guides users step by step, similar to OpenAI’s Custom GPTs or Google Gemini’s Gems, making it easy to personalise AI assistants.

Users can assign roles, such as travel planner or study coach, and choose from personality styles like “calm,” “humorous,” or “professional.”

WhatsApp will offer smart suggestions and custom avatars, helping shape the chatbot’s tone and behaviour and look for a more natural feel.

Chatbots will work fully inside WhatsApp, and users can keep them private or share them via links in chats, groups, or social media.

The feature is in beta for Android and iOS users, with a broader rollout expected soon as part of Meta’s expanding AI ecosystem.
