IT giant Wipro Ltd announced that it plans to Invest $1 billion in Artificial Intelligence (AI) over 3 years.

Indian IT giant Wipro Ltd announced that it plans to Invest $1 billion in Artificial Intelligence (AI) over 3 years. The investment will focus on AI, Big data, and analytics solutions, as well as developing new R&D platforms, it said in an exchange filing.

This news comes almost a week after rival Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it plans to train 25,000 engineers to get them certified on Microsoft’s Azure Open Ai.

After ChatGPT, an AI generative chatbot by Microsoft-backed OpenAI, took the world by storm in late 2022. Companies across the world have doubled down on investments in AI.

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte said, “Especially with the emergence of generative AI, we expect a fundamental shift up ahead for all industries,”.

Wipro has also launched Wipro ai360 and will train its employees on AI for the next 12 months.
