Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has proposed a three-way summit with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to help end Russiaβs invasion.
Putin earlier rejected a bilateral meeting in Turkey and said talks would happen only after a preliminary agreement.
Zelenskyy is open to any format, including a Trump-Putin-Zelenskyy meeting. He has urged the US to impose stronger sanctions on Russiaβs banking and energy sectors.
Trump recently criticised Putin, calling him βcrazy,β and warned that Russia is βplaying with fire.β
Despite diplomacy efforts, no peace deal has been reached; Russia still controls a fifth of Ukraine and continues major attacks.
Ukraine launched a large drone strike on Russia following intensified fighting. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy claims Moscow is building up 50,000 troops near Sumy.
Talks between Russia and Ukraine have resumed but are progressing slowly. However, there are no clear Russian demands yet being shared in writing.
Zelenskyy is scheduled to visit Germany for further diplomatic discussions and to continue receiving support from Berlin.
