Fumio Kishida, a former foreign minister, will be fighting in elections for the party leader post. Kishida had criticised Sugaβs planning against coronavirus and requested an incentive package to fight the covid-19 pandemic. Unlike last year, grassroots LDP members will also vote with its members of parliament, which makes the party leadership elections a bit harder to predict.
