The United States will only allow passengers who have taken doses of World Health Organization (WHO) authorised Covid-19 vaccines, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said. The White House had announced the US in November will lift travel restrictions from 33 countries including China, India, Brazil and Europe that are fully vaccinated. The CDC said that to help airlines prepare their systems we informed them of the vaccines that will be accepted, and CDC will declare further guidance and information as the travel requirements are finalized.

Few countries had requested the US government to allow WHO-approved vaccines as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized vaccines are not accepted in all countries. The new Covid-19 vaccine rules will apply to all travellers flying to the United States. The CDC still have to conclude and publish new rules for passengers which will be sent to the White House for review.
