Twitter announced that it would extend its new feature, which will allow users to flag misleading tweets on its social media platform. The microblogging platform had introduced the pilot test of this feature in August last year to decrease misinformation on its platform. The company first tested the quality in some countries like the United States, Australia and South Korea.

Since it was launched, Twitter said that over 3 million users had used the feature to flag tweets which they think are a breach of its policies. The social media platform had also launched another program called Birdwatch, which allow participants to write notes and give additional context to misleading tweets. Still, these notes are stored on a different website.
