Britain announced that it will offer Covid-19 vaccines to 5-11-year-olds kids. Announcing the move, British Health Minister Sajid Javid said he had taken advice from experts who argued that vaccinating young children will protect children against future waves of the coronavirus. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) said that shots for the cohort will increase protection against severe illness in children in future waves of Covid-19.

The JCVI said that there was a non-urgent offer of Pfizerβs paediatric Covid-19 vaccine for the age group with at least 12 weeks of a gap between the doses. All four nations of the United Kingdom have followed JCVI recommendation on the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines for children.
