Coal India Limited (CIL) produced 64.3 million tonnes (MTs) of coal in February, which is about a 4 per cent growth of 61.9 MTs than a year ago. Month-on-month, CIL’s average production grew to 2.3 MTs per day in February. Even after being three days lesser than January, the production in February month was equal with the previous month, the company said in a statement.

CIL’s production at 542.4 MTs during April-February was a historic high for this period. Coal output increased by 27.3 MTs in terms of a year-on-year comparison. “The company wants to post the highest ever production by the end of FY22, going beyond the previous high of 607 MTs recorded in FY19,” a senior executive of the company said. CIL’s off-take in February advanced by 12 per cent to 57.4 MTs against last year. At a volume increase of 85.8 MTs over 514 MTs of the same period the previous year, CIL’s off-take growth during April-February is 16.7 per cent. CIL has been able to liquidate its stock to the tune of 56.7 MTs till February’22.
