A fire burst at a building in Jammu city on March 14, which led to the death of 4 people, and 15 others were injured. The deceased’s family members will be given an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 5 Lakhs, the J&K government said. The cause of the fire is believed to be a short-circuit in a scrap shop. It then spread to the entire building as LPG cylinders inside exploded. An inquiry will take place to know the exact cause of the incident.

βAn ex-gratia of Rs 5 Lakhs each will be given to the families of the deceased in the Jammu LPG Cylinder blast incident, Rs 1 Lakh will be provided to the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 to those with minor injuries,” the office of J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Twitter. βExtremely discouraged by losing lives due to LPG cylinder blast at a scrap shop in Jammu. My condolences to the suffering families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. Directed the district government to give all the necessary assistance,β the lieutenant governor added.
