The company informed the exchange that the term of the concession agreement for GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been extended for 30 years. The airport, a downgraded subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited (GIL), was confirmed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on May 4. Extending from March 23, 2038, to March 22, 2068, under the terms of December 20, 2004.

The airport opened in 31 months and opened in March 2008 with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers per year (MPPA), which jumped to 21 MPPA before the 2019 Covid pandemic. The current expansion increases the capacity to 34 MPPA.

The company said it is the first new airport in India to adopt a public-private partnership (PPP) model and is currently the only airport in India with an end-to-end digital passenger processing system. In terms of cargo, the airport can handle 150,000 tons of cargo annually. The master plan envisages the flexibility to increase the final capacity to over 100 MPPA in stages.

GMR is the largest private airport operator in Asia and the second largest globally, handling more than 189 million passengers annually. The group is also developing airports in Greece and Indonesia.
