Delhi Sets Record for April GST At Rs 2,898 Cr

Officials said that Delhi registered a record GST of Rs 2,898 crore in the first month of the 2022-23 financial year. They said it was the highest GST collected by the city in April.

They said the record GST levy was also a good indicator of the country’s capital’s rapid economic recovery following the disruption caused by three waves of COVID-19 over the past two years. The GST tax for April 2021-22 was Rs 2,325 crore compared to Rs 32 crore in 2020-21.

In 2018, Delhi levied SGST of Rs 2,075 crore, but the figure dropped to Rs 2,059 crore in 2019. In the 2021-22 financial year, Delhi received Rs 28,500 crore from state GST and VAT.

This is because India recorded a GST of Rs 1.68 crore in April. According to analysts, the increase in GST collection was due to improvements in consumer demand, compliance mechanisms and overall inflation.
