Today, Rajasthani singer Mame Khan became the first folk artist to open the Cannes red carpet for India. Khan, who has sung in several Hindi films, poses in a traditional embroidered kurta and vibrant headdress on the carpet.

The singer has sung in films such as “Sonchiriya,” “No one killed Jessica,” and “Luck by chance” and has performed at Coca-Cola Studios. This year, many Indian artists participated in the Cannes Film Festival in France. Actor Deepika Padukone is a respected member of the festival’s jury.

Actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, R Madhavan, Pooja Hegde and Tamannah Bhatia are the artists representing other Indian films from different regions. AR Rahman, Prasoon Joshi and Shekhar Kapur also took to the red carpet.
India is the honorary country of the Marche’ Du Films at the Cannes Film Festival and the first country to receive this honour.

Six films from India will be screened at the festival, including “Rocket: The Nambi Effect,” “Godavari,” “Duin,” “Alpha Beta Gamma,” “Boomba Ride,” and “Niraye Thathakalulla Maram.” Legendary filmmaker Satyajit Rai’s “Pratidwandi” will also be screened at the festival.
