Meta Partners with Reliance Jiomart to Provide Grocery Shopping Experience on WhatsApp

This is the first-ever end-to-end shopping experience on WhatsApp, allowing people to buy groceries from JioMart in a chat.

On Monday, Meta Platforms Inc said that it would partner with Reliance JioMart for a service where WhatsApp users can buy groceries on the messaging platform from the Indian retail firm. Meta Platforms’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said he is excited to launch a partnership with JioMart in India. He further said that this is the first-ever end-to-end shopping experience on WhatsApp, allowing people to buy groceries from JioMart in a chat.

Reliance, in a press statement, said that this service would enable users in India to seamlessly browse through JioMart’s entire grocery catalogue, add items to their cart, and make the payment to finish the purchase without even leaving the WhatsApp chat.

Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, said that when Jio platforms and Meta announced a partnership in 2020, the vision was to bring more people and businesses online and create innovative solutions to make the daily lives of every Indian convenient. One example is the first-ever end-to-end shopping experience with JioMart on WhatsApp. The JioMart on WhatsApp service further enhances our commitment to a simple and convenient way of online shopping.

Meta Platforms is a US-based multinational technology conglomerate based in Menlo Park, California. The company, inter alia, owns Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.
