PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate 103 Amrit Bharat stations on 22nd May at an event in Bikaner, Rajasthan. These stations span 86 districts across 18 states and UTs, built at a cost of over Rs 1,100 crore.
Part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), the project aims to redevelop over 1,300 railway stations in phases with modern facilities.
Upgrades include cleaner stations, better entry/exit points, improved waiting areas, toilets, platforms, roofing, lifts, escalators, and free Wi-Fi.
Some stations will offer executive lounges and business meeting zones, while the ‘One Station One Product’ kiosks will promote local goods.
The scheme also focuses on better connectivity—linking both sides of the city through the station and integrating with buses, metros, and other transport.
Designs will reflect local culture and heritage—e.g., Ahmedabad station inspired by Modhera Sun Temple, Dwarka by Dwarkadheesh Temple, and others with regional architecture.
Launched in 2021, the scheme started with Gandhinagar station and later Rani Kamalapati station, marking Indian Railways’ push toward modern, passenger-friendly infrastructure.
