PM Modi to Inaugurate Phase 1 of Mahakal Corridor Project in Ujjain Today

PM Narendra Modi dedicated the first phase of the "Shri Mahakal Lok" corridor in Ujjain tonight.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the first phase of the “Shri Mahakal Lok” corridor in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, to the nation on Tuesday night.


The over 900 meters long “Mahakal Lok” corridor, one of the largest in the country, surrounds the ancient Rudrasagar Lake, which is also part of the redevelopment project around the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple, the country’s 12 “jyotirlingas” attract large numbers of believers, media reported.


He said two majestic gateways – Nandi Dwar and Pinaki Dwar – were erected near the beginning of the corridor and meandered to the temple’s entrance, offering beautiful views along the way. The colonnade of 108 ornate columns made of finely carved sandstone, gushing fountains, and a succession of more than 50 murals depicting the story of “Shiv Puran” are the main highlights of Mahakal Lok.


The event is part of the Rs 856 crore Mahakaleshwar Temple Corridor development project. The first phase development cost of “Mahakal Lok” is Rs 316 crore.


On Sunday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended a round of Mahakal Lok and reviewed preparations for the event. After visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple and Mahakal Lok, Chouhan said that this mystic and amazing structure should have a permanent place in people’s hearts.
