Shares of Vodafone Idea Ltd (VI) were trading in the green and 2% higher on 11 June after the company announced launching its 5G services in Bengaluru.
The telecom provider will begin its 5G deployment on 11 June. The expansion follows Vi’s recent 5G launch in Delhi. The company’s 5G network became online in Mumbai, Patna, and Chandigarh last month. Vi has collaborated with Samsung to implement infrastructure to improve network performance in Bengaluru.
Vi has stated in a press statement that their 5G services would launch in Bengaluru on 11 June. Vi subscribers in Bengaluru with 5G-enabled phones can now access Vi 5G throughout the city. As a debut promotion, Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on plans starting at Rs. 299.
Last month, Vi announced the debut of 5G services in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, and Chandigarh. The current expansion is part of the telecom company’s ambition to cover all 17 priority circles for which it has purchased 5G spectrum by August of this year.
Vi stated that it has partnered with Samsung to develop advanced infrastructure to provide a 5G experience in Bengaluru. It uses AI-powered Self-Organising Networks (SON) for autonomous network optimisation.
The business says it has upgraded its 4G network in Karnataka to deliver better coverage, quicker data rates, and a better user experience. It claimed to have deployed a 900MHz spectrum at about 3,000 places to improve interior coverage, quadrupled 2100MHz spectrum capacity at 1,800 sites and added 2,100MHz spectrum to an additional 1,000 locations.
Furthermore, Vi increased its 1,800MHz capacity across 4,100 locations, enhancing coverage and data traffic handling capabilities.
As previously stated, Vi’s prepaid users can get 5G data with plans starting at Rs. 299, which includes unlimited 5G data on eligible devices in 5G network coverage zones and 1GB 4G data per day. Following the daily quota, data speed will be decreased to 64Kbps. The plan includes unlimited calls and 100 SMS messages per day and is good for 28 days.
At 1:04 pm, the shares of Vodafone Idea were trading 0.57% higher at Rs 7.01 on NSE.
