The Indian government has signed an air bubble agreement with Saudi Arabia, which will permit all eligible travellers to travel between both countries. The flights between India and Saudi Arabia will start on January 1, 2022.

Air travel bubbles are temporary arrangements between two countries that help restart the commercial passenger services when regular international flights are stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. India has an air bubble pact with 35 countries. These include countries like Afghanistan, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA) and Uzbekistan.

India has restricted the international passenger flight operations in India till January 31 due to increasing Covid-19 cases. Earlier this month, the government had said that it is creating air bubbles with ten more countries as Omicron has delayed the restarting of regular international flights.
