The CDC panel advised the US government that Americans should be given Pfizer or Moderna vaccines against Covid-19 over the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine to cause rare but severe blood clots. The blood clotting has caused nine confirmed deaths after taking vaccine of J&J, while the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines don’t come with that risk and is more effective, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) panel said.

The United States has treated all three Covid-19 vaccines available as an equal choice because studies found that they all offered strong protection and early supplies were limited. But the CDC panel said that it is time to realise that a lot has changed since vaccines started rolling out. Over 200 million Americans are fully vaccinated, including about 16 million vaccinated with the J&J dose.
