India Hits 100 Crore Covid-19 Vaccination Mark

India crossed the 100 crores vaccine dose mark on October 2 in its fight against Covid-19 surviving logistic challenges and hesitation as healthcare employees worked very hard to get Indians vaccinated against the virus. It took nine months to get 100 crore vaccination mark, with around 74 per cent of the adults getting their first dose. Over 31 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar told on October 20 that “Over 100 crore doses have been distributed in the country and the centre has targeted vaccinating the entire adult population by the end of 2021.”

Congratulating on the milestone, Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “India scripts history. We are witnessing the triumph of Indian science, enterprise and the collective spirit of 130 crore Indians. Congrats, India, on crossing 100 crore vaccinations. Gratitude to our doctors, nurses and all those who worked to achieve this feat.”
