China on Wednesday recorded more than 100 coronavirus cases, including 9 cases in Beijing, which has already forced many citizens to restrict travel to other parts of the country due to the new increase in coronavirus infections.
China’s National Health Commission told that 93 locally spread Covid-19 cases and 16 new imported cases were reported on Tuesday, the highest in a single day in recent weeks. 35 cases were reported in the area of Heilongjiang bordering Russia, 14 in Hebei, 14 in Gansu, 6 in Inner Mongolia, 4 each in Chongqing and Qinghai, 2 each in Jiangxi, Yunnan and Ningxia, and 1 in Sichuan, the health commission said.
One new suspected coronavirus case coming from outside the country was reported in Shanghai and no new deaths were reported, the commission added. China has so far reported 97,423 cases of which 4,636 had died due to the virus. Till Tuesday, 1,000 patients are still getting treatment. Among them, 37 were in critical condition, the report told.

China has been seeking a Zero COVID policy but still experiencing outbreaks of the virus in various places even after vaccinating over 76 per cent of its population. The country had no option but to try for zero infections as the coronavirus was duplicating quickly and the global death rate of around 2 per cent was not acceptable.
